← Ephemera — The Working Matrix

Historical context
Produced during the 1990–91 U.S. mobilization for the Gulf War, when Saddam Hussein caricatures saturated cable news, newsprint, and retail novelty aisles. Products of this class — playing cards, targets, dartboards, novelty paper goods — translated foreign policy into disposable consumer humor at the checkout counter.
Curatorial notes
Retained in original wrap to preserve the object as a commercial artifact rather than a used one. The sealed state is itself the evidence: the joke was purchased, taken home, and never deployed — a receipt of the wartime mood, not of its use.
